Game doesn't load, sorry

It's ok for a puzzle game. I sort of expected a matching game honestly, where you get orders and have to prepare the food items the way the customer wants them but alright. Yeah I can't really say much about this, the graphics are decent and the game runs smoothly. Seems somewhat uninspired to me tho...

I didn't sit through it entirely because I thought it was super cheesy and corny, but I get what you're going for. The idea is nice I guess but the words don't resonate enough. Maybe stop trying to be #relateable and actually put the whole breakup scenario into your perspective. Just tell us how you felt about that.

I really like the graphics and animations, very postmodern. Nice.

Yeah it's a remake, true. But you could've maybe spruced it up a little? Like don't just let the spacecraft be the ig dm symbol or stuff. Give some tutorials for players who've never played Asteroids. I don't think everybody knows that you are supposed to actually collect the red stuff. Just some short introduction to the game.

Maybe also make levels, not just an endless mode.

pseudoLudo responds:

Hey,thank you for playing! The levels would have been fun to make but the theme of the GMTK game jam was "only one" and i wanted to make a one button one screen game.

Cool concept honestly! Also the sound engineering in the game is surprisingly well done! Good job dude

JosephZander responds:

Thanks! The sound is the main focus of the game so I spent the most time trying to balance it. I wish I could have figured out a way to make the sounds a bit more unique but adding in anything other than simple sine waves caused harmonics that made the sound to difficult to pin down and for a 2 day game jam I just didn't have the time to mess with it. Unfortunately the sounds that I did use aren't as clear as I would have liked, there are some goofy artifacts that I couldn't quite figure out how to fix, but overall I'm pleased with the idea, maybe some day I'll polish it up a bit more. Thanks for playing though!

It's alright I guess. The only problem I have is that this game isn't really challenging? Like you don't die from the monsters.

I do like the vibe of the game however, I was genuinely creeped out when I saw the first monster. You could probably enhance this effect if you would put 1-2 rooms in front of this one, maybe how she (the protagonist) walks through a playground, it's getting darker outside, yatta yatta, I think you get the picture!

fiddIe responds:

Thanks for the review!
Sounds like you didn't progress to the third level? You're supposed to go into the inlet on the right after you've exterminated the pink monsters. Guess I should have communicated that better in the game somehow.

I'm glad you like the vibe! I was actually going to add more of a story at the beginning about the kid having an OCD-like compulsion to not turn left, and establish the setting as some sort of nightmare inspired by my own childhood nightmares. Alas, 48 hours isn't much and my gamedev muscle is out of shape.

I really enjoy the graphics, reminds me of zenonia for iphone and andoid. However the game is unreasonably hard. The enemies have better range. The enemies attack faster than you. You can only take one hit and then die. The first enemy takes 3 hits to die. idk man, the difficulty is out to lunch

I don't understand, what's happening? Who am I? What's happening when I use the arrow keys? How do I beat enemys? How do I move?!!?! I don't know what's happening.

Edit: thanks for your instructions, the game makes way more sense now. Thank you!

HarkOfEric responds:

I added instructions in the author comments.
I plan on adding a button in game to tell the player how to play.

The game is really nice actually, it's a really cool idea. I would recommend implementing a little tutorial however. Being thrown into the game without knowing what to do is kind of frustrating!

The game crashes right after the title screen. It sounds interesting though, I'll make sure to leave a review when you've uploaded a functioning version of your game! Just shoot me a message when it's working!

EDIT: The game works fine with the link you provided, thank you. The game itself is nice, I enjoy the graphic and the responsiveness of the controls. However I wish the sword attack wouldn't have such a huge starting lag. An ending lag would be perfectly fine and reasonable, but attacking with the sword feels counter intuitive. Like you have to attack before the enemy is even in reach. Very difficult timing, I'd reconsider the attack lag.

Also there are some small bugs with the spikes in the ground and the chests on them. I think it's the first lava/volcano level. You can actually make a huge jump on the chest in the middle of the spikes, which should obviously be safe. But that jump is impossible. Even if you land pixel perfect on the chest, you still die by spikes.

Other than that I really enjoyed the game!

GamingOverdose responds:

Hello, I don’t know why this problem occurs because it has never happened to me or others can you describe it a bit more so I can try troubleshooting it, till then you can play my game on my itch.io link:- https://gamedevoverdose.itch.io/the-knight-the-unholy-quest

Hey there! I'm currently working on my own game - The Legend of RPGenia! It's a fun project for me!
I like Hentai, Anime, Lewd stuff and basically everything H-related.
